Peace and fear, two opposites that cannot co-exist;
the one a reflection of calm acceptance and action,
the other a state of constant wariness to the danger
which might be —could be lurking in readiness.
Peace is more than an absence of warring nations.
It is free of warring emotions within a mind,
the creative mind that impels body’s reaction
to a future event imaged from conditioned thought.
Fear is oft useful as mindset to present danger.
spurring the one to heroics beyond belief,
another to a hurried retreat to safety,
paralyzing a third into fateful submission.
Peace is dimly perceived, rarely defined in words,
even by those who know its secret formula.
It exists where mind reacts in deliberation,
and chooses calm reason over quick reaction.
